How can I write data in a Word or PDF document using C++?

I would take a look at Ghostscript as thats probably the closest you can come to honoring the PDF specification and its roots are C/C++. Ghostscript has been around for a long time and many companies use it. Its also OpenSource and you would need to refer to the licensing policy to ensure you are compliant. If you intend to sell a solution based on it, you would probably have to license the technology and pay them a royalty for usage. Ghostscript also honors “Postscript” which is part of PDF.

PDF documents can be cumbersome to edit, especially when you need to change the text or sign a form. However, working with PDFs is made beyond-easy and highly productive with the right tool.

How to Write On PDF with minimal effort on your side:

  1. Add the document you want to edit — choose any convenient way to do so.
  2. Type, replace, or delete text anywhere in your PDF.
  3. Improve your text’s clarity by annotating it: add sticky notes, comments, or text blogs; black out or highlight the text.

Write on PDF: All You Need to Know

In the case of “Postscript” you would need to refer to the PDF-related agreements you have with the printer or the printer supplier.  Generally, the printing service provider will provide you with an invoice for what to print on your system as part of the deal. I personally don't want to worry about PDF compatibility issues and would prefer someone else to do the legwork for me. I've asked several companies about compatibility issues and only one of them (which owns and maintains this software) told me to look it up on the Internet. I think it's a big issue that companies like Adobe need to address in the Open Document Format. For reference, these are the documents from Adobe: 1. Open Document Format Requirements 2. Definitions and Design Criteria for Open Document Format Document Types 3. Design Criteria 4. Acknowledgments 5. Requirements 6. Open Source License. I could go.
