Write on PDF

Edit PDFs from Google Drive

Open a PDF, add text, annotations or a drawn signature, then save an edited copy to My Drive. Your original file stays unchanged.

Choose a PDF in the editor

  1. Open the PDF editor and choose Open from Drive.
  2. Sign in to Google and allow access to the files you choose. The same sign-in creates or restores your Write on PDF account; your account appears in the upper-right corner. Select one PDF in the Google Drive file chooser.
  3. Make your changes and choose Save copy to Drive. Choose Open saved PDF to find the new file.

Open a PDF from Drive

After connecting Write on PDF to your Drive, right-click a PDF in Google Drive and choose Open with → Write on PDF. In the editor, choose Open from Drive to sign in and open that document.

Where is my saved copy?

Copies are saved in the top level of My Drive, with “- edited” added to the name. They are not automatically placed in the original folder or shared with the original file’s collaborators. Each save creates a new copy. The Save button in the main toolbar still downloads a PDF to your device.

Connection and file errors

If Google sign-in is cancelled or blocked, allow the sign-in pop-up and try again. If your connection expires, choose the Drive action again to reconnect. The PDF and edits stay open.

Use the Google account that can access the file. The owner must allow downloading and copying. Choose one PDF smaller than 200 MB; Google Docs, folders and shortcuts are not supported. If your organization blocks third-party apps, ask its Google Workspace administrator.

If Drive controls are unavailable, the integration has not been enabled on this deployment. You can still download a PDF from Drive, open it from your device, and use the editor locally.

Your account and connection

Local PDF editing works without signing in. After connecting Drive, your account and connection are remembered on this browser. A later Drive action can restore access without another sign-in, unless Google requires it. Use the account menu in the upper-right corner to sign out on this browser.

Disconnect and remove access

Choose Disconnect in the editor to delete the saved Drive credential and request removal of the Google grant. Your Write on PDF account stays signed in. You can also remove Write on PDF under Google Account connections. Clear this site’s browser data to remove local drafts and saved signatures. Files saved to Drive remain there until you delete them.

Privacy and support

Google access is limited to the files you select or create with this app. An encrypted server-side credential remembers your Drive connection, and Firebase remembers your sign-in. See the privacy policy for file transfers, local drafts and optional cloud text recognition.

For support, email wpdf@fonable.io. Include the action that failed and the error message. Do not send confidential PDFs or Google access tokens.
